Navigating Future Horizons: A China-Pacific Island Countries Dialogue

Ambassador Luamanuvae Mariner, was one of the three Pacific Ambassadors in Beijing to launch the “Navigating Future Horizons: A China-Pacific Island Countries Dialogue” a program organized by CGTN at Peking University on Wednesday, 28th August 2024. The dialogue covered ongoing technical cooperation and development programs between China and the Pacific Island countries, the importance of BRI to small island states, the ongoing challenges of climate change and the importance of sports exchanges in promoting world peace. The other two Ambassadors present at the dialogue were Ambassador Sivas of the Federated States of Micronesia and Ambassador Lee of the Republic of Fiji.   

 

The Prime Minister of Tonga Hon. Siaosi Sovaleni, the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands Hon. Jeremiah Manele, the President of Nauru, David Adeang and China’s Special Envoy to the Pacific H.E Qian Bo joined the dialogue from the Pacific via video link. Journalists from Samoa, Kiribati, Fiji and Solomon Islands also participated virtually and spoke about the relationship between China and their respective countries.
