China’s Vice Foreign Minister, H.E. Ma Zhaoxu hosted the Pacific Islands Ambassadors Group to a lunch meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beijing, on 6 February 2024. Minister Ma Zhaoxu highlighted some of China’s technical support to assist the Pacific Island Countries (PICs) in the pursuit of their national development objectives and that the strong bilateral relationship between China and the PICs is based on mutual trust and mutual respect. Ambassador Mariner acknowledged China’s ongoing support to Samoa’s development priorities and that the two countries will celebrate in 2025, the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
